We visited Woodall Mountain on March 12th, 2004

Here are the instructions from Nashville, TN
1. Take I-65 South
2. Take exit 53 onto SR-396 towards Columbia.
3. Go 4.6 miles and turn left onto US-31 towards Columbia.
4. Go 8.8 miles and turn right onto US-412
5. Keep straight onto US-43
6. Go 73 miles to Florence, Alabama
7. Take US-72 West, go 36.6 miles.
8. Near Iuka turn left onto Fairgrounds Road (It might be easier to catch SR-25 South and turn right to find Fairgrounds Road.).
9. Go 1 mile and turn right onto CR-176 (Woodall Mountain Road).
10. After 0.7 miles turn right onto CR-185 (Woodall Mountain Road) and go up a mile.

This has been one of the best decorated highpoints I've seen.
