The detailed account of my trip to Japan in August 2005 would take too long
for these pages; also, whenever I tell people about Japan, I feel like Marco
Polo as they seem to be disguising their disbelief all the time. So I'm only
mentioning the most notable wonders here, and you can decide yourself whether or
not to believe me.
- One can put a coin into a vending machine in a Tokyo street and get back
pure whiskey
- Grocery stores play loud early nineties techno music
- There's a park in Nara with no garbage bins. Instead, they have special
deer that eat all the garbage. If you don't have any garbage to give them,
they take your money and shinkansen tickets from your pockets and eat that
- Men with swords walking on the sidewalks and in the subway
- Sick people have to wear masks, so others couldn't catch a disease from
them
- We saw a lady with a monkey on a leash in a supermarket
Pictures from the trip:
- Tokyo
- Kyoto
- Nara
- Mt. Fuji
- Wado-kai karate-do world cup
